Online board games from Gleemax

Category: Board Games

I just found out today that Wizards of the Coast has create a new site called Gleemax Games to host online versions of some of their board games. Right now, it's in alpha test mode and it's free to sign up and play!

Games (+ Recommended):

RoboRally +
Axis & Allies
Acquire +
Guillotine
Vegas Showdown +

There's also Magic: The Gathering and Desktop Tower Defense for a little non board game flavor.

Look for me under my screen name 'daveman'.

Sunday Music Dump: Firewater

Trying something new here with this Flash widget. Hopefully it will display on the blog properly.

I normally have my alarm set to radio mode because I find it's more conducive to waking up in the morning. Nothing will get me back to sleep faster than an annoying buzzer (that is 'snooze'd as soon as possible). Lately, I've had my radio set to KEXP mostly because I hate waking up to a commercial (worse than a buzzer) and KEXP is public radio. Plus the music isn't too bad either.

Firewater grabbed my attention as I got out of bed earlier this week. They combine the infections enthusiasm of the Squirrel Nut Zippers with the salty vocals of a coarse bar band. The whole album should be available for listening in the Flash widget above. 'Borneo' is a standout but there's some other gems in there as well.

I turned on comments after installing a new spam blocking plugin (NP_CaptchaLite). We'll see how long they take to catch on to this one.

Two months and one failed hard drive later, our 2008 calendar has finally been finished. If you are reading this and you haven't received your calendar yet -- stop reading! >=[

Special thanks to Ryan for pretending to be John during the month of January. =)

Otherwise click 'Read More' to see all of this year's pictures (in no particular order).

I'm posting this right now from my phone as a little blogging experiment. Hopefully, if its not too cumbersome, it will give me something to do on the bus ride home.

Today. I'm posting about a band called Seawolf. I use the word 'band' loosely because I believe it's just one guy who does all of the heavy lifting. You can pop on over to their site for free downloads of a couple songs. 'You're a Wolf' is simple but effective while 'The Garden That You Planted' is melancholy and bittersweet.

I keep wanting to start blogging again but every time I come here there are thousands of spam messages waiting for me. Thus, I have disabled comments on all posts until I find a good anti-spam solution. If you would like to tell me something, you can e-mail me or message me (on MSN) by using dave|at|dualsuns|period|com.

More posts coming soon. For reals.

You may have heard music by Alexi Murdoch before. Four years ago, he put out a small EP called Four Songs with, you guessed it, four songs. One of those songs, Orange Sky was featured on several soundtracks and TV shows including Garden State, Prison Break, House (basically lots of FOX shows).

All through that time he was developing a full-length CD. It took so long because he decided to make his own label, partially so he could retain all of the licensing rights. Perhaps he got the raw end of a deal on the EP...? Anyway, in June his new CD Time Without Consequence was finally released.

You can listen to some full length tracks (including a new version of Orange Sky at his Myspace page or at this site.
